SALARY INFORMATION:
$21.40 – $32.50 Hourly    $44,512.00 – $67,600.00 Annually OPENING DATE: 08/11/21 CLOSING DATE: 08/25/21 11:59 PM DESCRIPTION:  This position is responsible for performing inspections of electrical systems and components and/or related sites to determine compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, standards, plans, and specifications.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Inspects and evaluates electrical construction and installation by making detailed examinations of electrical systems and equipment, materials, methods, and practices used in construction, preparing accurate reports, maintaining records, preparing violation notices and testifying in court. Enforces codes and ordinances for electrical construction and installation. Communicates inspection findings to appropriate parties. Performs related work as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the electrical trade or completion of a formal course of training as an electrician apprentice; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSApplicants must possess a valid driver’s license. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SELECTION AND APPOINTMENTA selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant’s education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.

The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant’s earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.

The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.

All applicants conditionally offered a permanent part time, full time, term or on-call position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be paid for by the County.
