2024 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC) – Design, Installation, and Inspection Principles

This course provides an overview of the 2024 International Swimming Pool & Spa Code (ISPSC), focusing on the technical information required for plan reviews and field inspections of residential pools, spas, and hot tubs. It covers both new construction and remodeling projects.

Learners will explore:

Compliance Standards: Requirements for equipment design, installation, functionality, sanitation, and disposal.

Safety & Hydraulics: How to identify and avoid professional safety hazards and detailed instructions for designing and recognizing safe hydraulic systems.

Permitting & Documentation: A guide to the specific data and documentation required by building departments to approve both residential and commercial pool permits.

Gary Anthony Gauthier serves as a leading voice for the International Code Council (ICC), where he serves as the Director of PMG Technical Resources and the Liaison for the Safety 2.0 Technical Training Program. With a career spanning over 40 years, Gary acts as the vital link between complex safety regulations and the communities they protect.

He is the primary technical engine for the ICC’s Government Relations goals, overseeing the implementation of essential codes—including Plumbing (IPC), Mechanical (IMC), Fuel Gas (IFGC), and Swimming Pool and Spa (ISPSC). Gary is often found on the front lines of industry advocacy, providing expert testimony at public hearings and representing the ICC in federal and state coalitions.

Gary’s expertise isn’t just theoretical; it’s built on decades of hands-on mastery. He is a Licensed Master Plumber across four states (MA, NH, ME, VT) and a seasoned Construction Project Manager. Passionate about passing on his knowledge, he continues to serve as an Adult Educational Master Plumbing & Gas Instructor, helping the next generation understand the critical importance of code correlation and safety.
