General Requirements Day 1
This class covers Articles 90 and 110 of the National Electrical Code®. Some of the most fundamental and important topics in the entire Code are in the found in Article 90, including the scope and applicability of the document, as well as the requirements for enforcement. Article 110 Topics include interrupting and short-circuit current ratings for equipment, termination requirements, arc-flash labeling, and working space provisions.
Common NEC Violations Day 2
This interactive class covers some of the more common mistakes, misconceptions, and misapplications of the National Electrical Code (NEC). It focuses on Chapters one through four of the NEC and includes topics such as working space requirements; GFCI and AFCI protection requirements; branch circuit, feeder circuit, and service conductor requirements; as well as requirements for general use equipment and wiring methods.
Instructor Bio
Ryan Jackson is an electrical Code expert and textbook author in the Salt Lake City, Utah, area.
He began his career as a carpenter while in high school, and began doing electrical work at the age of 18. At the age of 23, Ryan landed his first job as an electrical inspector and subsequently became certified in building, plumbing, and mechanical inspection, as well as building and electrical plan review. Two years after becoming an inspector, he was approached by a friend in the area asking him to fill in at an electrical seminar for him. After his first class, he was hooked and is now a highly sought after seminar instructor.
Ryan has taught in several states and loves helping people increase their understanding of the Code. In 2005, Ryan met Mike Holt, and they became friends immediately. He helped Mike with his
Understanding the NEC, Volume 2 videos and began editing his books as well. A few years later he became the author of Mike’s Code Changes textbooks, which he continued to write through the 2017 Code cycle. When Ryan isn’t working, he can often be found in his garage turning wood on his lathe, in his basement exercising, or any quiet place where he can dive into a book. He is also a rabid University of Utah football fan. Ryan married his high school sweetheart, Sharie, and they have two beautiful children together: Kaitlynn and Aaron.
