Building Official

The City of Belton Community and Economic Development Department is now recruiting for a Certified Building Official. This is a full time position in a key leadership role within
the Department and duties will include the scheduling, coordination and overall management of all building code enforcement within the City of Belton. This also includes
being a key representative in the Development Review Committee, conducting plan reviews and taking necessary enforcement actions. This position has direct supervision
over the Building Inspections Division and reports directly to the Department Director. The applicant must possess excellent organization abilities, computer and
communication skills. Must possess enthusiasm, integrity, and aspires to a high level of customer services. The desired communication skills must include concise, clear
communication to residents, developers, elected personnel, contractors and other staff.

The City of Belton, Missouri is experiencing significant growth and development totaling over $100 million in investment activity. Belton has a diverse population of approximately
23,400 located in southern Cass County, just 17 miles south of Kansas City, Missouri, and has a vibrant quality of life with a “small town” atmosphere with “big city” amenities.

QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following: a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Science, completion of
Certified Building Official Certification or the ability to obtain full certification within six months of appointment. Must have experience performing building code inspections,
three to five years’ experience in the construction trades or management and have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. The successful candidate must pass a preemployment
physical, drug screening and background investigation.

Salary range for this position is $55,000 – $84,000 depending on qualifications.

The City offers a highly competitive compensation package including health, dental, life, short-term disability; state defined benefit pension plan and educational reimbursement.
Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen and background investigation.
