Seminar:

This seminar will assist participants in implementing the transition from the 2009 Plumbing, Mechanical, and Fuel Gas Codes (PMG) to the 2015 PMG. It will include material relevant to the changes in the 2012 PMG. This interactive training will focus on the key changes presented in the participant material. Small group activities and knowledge review questions will provide ample opportunity for participants to discuss and consider the changes.

Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be better able to:

  • Identify the most significant differences between the 2012 PMG, 2009 PMG, and the 2015 PMG. 
  • Explain the differences between the current and previous editions.
  • Identify changes in organization and code requirements.
  • Identify the applicability of design, plan review, and inspection requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Plan Reviewer involves skilled work in examining and approving plans and specifications of commercial, residential and other structures to ensure compliance with the City of Branson’s adopted and amended International Code Council (ICC) building codes and adopted City of Branson Municipal codes and ordinances. The person in this role works under general supervision of the Building Division Supervisor and the Director of Planning and Development, and acts as a lead in assigning duties during the absence of the Building Division Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 18 years of age. High School diploma or GED equivalent. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or related field is desired. Five years’ experience as a building inspector with a governmental organization, with three years’ experience as a plans examiner is required. Supervisory experience is desired. Must possess (or obtain within six months of hire) ICC Certification as a Building Plans Examiner. Certification must be current and maintained during term of employment. Additional licenses or certifications may be required for
this position. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license with the ability to be insured under the City of Branson’s insurance coverage when driving a city-owned vehicle. Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes the following: Performs technical review and approves building and construction plans and specifications for new or altered structures for compliance with applicable codes,
regulations and ordinances including but not limited to architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Interprets codes and regulations related to plan review and construction projects. Prepares formal written code comments to owners, architects, engineers, contractors, general
public and other city departments. Responds to inquiries and meets with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, general public and other city departments on building codes, inspections, permitting, code compliance, and proposed construction projects. Prepares and maintains accurate records and written reports and presents oral and written
reports as required. Performs periodic field inspections of projects both prior to and during construction to determine compliance with approved plans and regulations. Meets with developers, architects and engineers in regard to technical requirements of the ICC Codes and engineering practices. May assign duties to building inspectors during the Building Division Supervisor’s absence. Other duties as assigned by supervision.

architectural drawings and maps. Clearly communicates to property owners, contractors and the general public; explain
and interpret requirements and restrictions of adopted codes and ordinances related to commercial and residential
construction. Maintains files, work logs and reports regarding inspection activities and findings on all projects.
