The City of Mission, (pop. 9,467) is seeking an experienced Permit Technician to join our Community Development Department. The chosen candidate should be looking to grow professionally within our organization, possess creativity in problem solving, good customer service skills and the ability to multi-task. An example of some of the job duties include processing permit applications, issuing commercial and residential permits, scheduling building inspections, maintaining a filing system to monitor expiration dates of permits and temporary certificates of occupancy, providing administrative support to the Neighborhood Services Officers, Building Official and other staff as appropriate and collection of payments for permits, plan reviews and other departmental activities. Because of the variety of duties, the ability to be very organized is a must!
The successful candidate will be able to obtain or already have the International Council of Codes Permit Technician Certification, have two to three years of related experience and/or training and/or an Associate’s degree. Courses may be in engineering, construction planning, architecture or a related field. In addition, to be successful in this position, you must have education or experience demonstrating an ability to read and interpret maps, site and construction plans.
