POSITION: CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

 

PAY RANGE: $$18.53/hr. to -$26.37/hr.

 

The Building and Codes division seeks a full time Code Enforcement Officer to interpret and enforce adopted codes and municipal ordinances. This position also performs multi-family occupancy inspections.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position regularly patrols or inspects and responds to complaints in assigned area(s) for potential code violations relating to signage, building occupancy, nuisances, housing conditions, land use & zoning, animals, noise, dumping, polluting, or other code related matters.  Follows up and responds to public request for service. Conducts field investigations of potential violations; gathers evidence; interview complainants and issues warning, correction notices, or citations if necessary to gain compliance.

Composes and distributes a variety of correspondence, memoranda, notices, and reports relating to code enforcement issues and actions. Posts stop work orders and condemnation orders.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

(A) High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) to three (3) years of experience performing similar inspections or corresponding experience in a related field. ICC Certification as Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector and a valid driver license with a good driving history are also required. This position requires the ability to work well independently and as a member of the team. Good keyboarding skills and the ability to learn new software programs required to do the job are also required.
