CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL
The City of Collinsville is accepting applications for the position of Chief Building Official. This is a full-time, non-union,
exempt position that reports to the Director of Community Development. Primary duties and responsibilities include but
are not limited to: planning, coordinating, performing, and supervising all aspects of the Building and Code Compliance
functional area, including inspections, plan review, review and issuance of building permits, violations, demolitions,
managing and tracking projects, and other administrative duties necessary to fulfill the duties of the position. This
position supervises city inspectors and code enforcers.
The successful applicant must have, at minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent and possess International Building
Code certifications in residential building inspection, commercial building inspection, and plan review at the time of hire.
Certified Building Official certification preferred. Requires five to ten years municipal inspections experience with at
least two years of supervisory experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license, strong customer service skills, and
computer proficiency. Construction trades experience will also be considered.
SALARY and BENEFITS
Salary depends on qualifications. Salary range begins at $60,100. The City of Collinsville offers a comprehensive benefits
package, which includes health, dental, vision and prescription 100% funded by the City for single coverage. Pension is
with the Illinois Municipal Retirement system.
