Temporary Residential Building Inspector
The City of Creve Coeur is seeking a Temporary Residential Building Inspector to assist in
performing various inspection-related duties. Essential functions include inspecting construction
sites to ensure compliance with approved plans and the City’s adopted building codes,
maintaining records, and identifying unauthorized construction activities in order to ensure that
all construction and zoning matters are in compliance with City ordinances.
Successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective
working relationships with others, organize and prioritize work, problem solve and work
independently. Graduation from high school or equivalent is required as well as three or more
years of increasingly responsible equivalent or related code enforcement experience. ICC
Residential Building Inspector Certification preferred. A current driver license, proof of vehicle
insurance coverage, and reliable vehicle is required. Candidate must be able to work outside in
varying weather conditions and drive personal vehicle to different construction sites. Able to
walk, stoop, bend and climb as needed to survey sites.
Normal work hours are generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but
may be adjusted to accommodate developer or resident inspection needs. Periodic weekend
hours may be required. Candidate may work up to 40 hours per week, based on availability and
department needs. Position is term limited for a period of time not to exceed 90 days from date
of hire. The starting pay rate is $25 per hour and includes mileage reimbursement at the current
