JOB DESCRIPTION: Assists the general public and contractors with inquiries in person and on the telephone, as well as helping customers to determine necessity of building permits, questions regarding licensing, inspections, and rendering assistance with basic code questions and property management complaints. Verifies that location is in the unincorporated jurisdiction of St. Charles County, or directs to appropriate agency. Determines when to transfer inquiries to other staff. Collects fees and issues receipts for all of the Community Development Department. Enters relevant data on into building and code enforcement software, and assures that all applicable reviews by various divisions and Departments within the County are completed and entered, then notifies customer of completion of permit process and fees. Schedules appropriate inspections and verifies eligibility for same. Opens code enforcement complaint files and assists in preparation and mailing of code enforcement correspondence. Forwards data to property owners and builders. Prepares reports and files pertaining to inspections and the licensing of contractors. Prepares routine correspondence for department staff as needed. Maintains and files all necessary paperwork, including reviewing for accuracy and completion. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a general or technical high school or equivalent and two years clerical experience including customer service, cash transactions, data entry, and record keeping. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Requires considerable skill in customer relations. Requires successful completion of computerized clerical skills testing with a minimum score of 4800 KSPH on Data Entry and 75% on Customer Service: Telephone Skills Test. *Please call 636-949-7320 x7198 to schedule clerical testing.
